I owe my passion for writing and expression to my father who is my biggest inspiration.
About My Father
My father is the most generous person I know. It would have been sufficient if he had just worked hard to provide us with a comfortable life, however he insisted we had a lavish, privileged and extraordinary one! It wasn’t just the big things my father did that make him stand out, it was also the little things. My father taught me to love reading and writing… he took the time to find out who my favorite authors were and would return from his business trips with piles and piles of my favorite books to read. He would cut excerpts from newspapers and magazines that he felt would expand my view in life and encourage me to think freely and shared them with me, always with a small dedication saying something like “my lovely daughter Sarah this article reminded me of you or dear Sarah look how this writer describes the world..” He taught me to think outside the box and to analyze and see things from different perspectives before judging. To believe the best things and to do the good things and to expand my knowledge and experiences. My father praised everything I did. He would frame all my childish sketches and would hang them in his office and at home and would tell everyone “Look how talented she is! Sarah is going to be an artist!” I excelled at school and college and became an honors student because of him. He always believed in me. My father raised us in a home where faith and discipline were practiced through love and understanding never through fear or force. My father was a diplomat and he taught us how to be diplomatic too. Even though no man is perfect my father strived to be. My father is proof that a man can be strong and influential yet still loving and compassionate. Today after becoming a parent myself I hope I can pass on some of that wisdom, love and nurture I received from him onto my own children. Bless you dad, I am what I am because you loved me.
